CONNEXIONS

Working session with professional associations in the sector

Fira Mediterrània de Manresa has an ongoing working structure with the professional associations in the sector to improve channels of communication between the arts market and the needs of professionals in the different arts. After its popularity last year, this year we are co-organising a session which will deal with the legal framework for the management of shows and the business structures suitable and/or convenient in this sector depending on the nature of each type of artistic project. Discussion will be based on the report by the consultants Durán-Sindreu, Asesores Legales y Tributarios, commissioned by The Spanish network of publicly-owned theatres, auditoria, circuits and festivals. The session will also deal with bookings and provision for disputes, the tax system and fiscal obligations, copyright in performance and recording, employment regulations and management and a legal appraisal of the new forms of fund-raising that have been and are being implemented in the performing arts sector.

The session will consist of two parts, a first lasting an hour and a quarter and featuring a talk by Cristina Calvet, a lawyer for the Catalan association of professional actors and directors, AADPC, a specialist in intellectual property law and an expert in how the arts and culture sector works. The second part will be for questions.

Entrance to this conference is by accreditation to the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa.
