Here’s a preview of the programme for the one-day Professional Event at the 2013 Viladecans Festival Internacional de Teatre i Animació Al Carrer (international festival of street theatre and entertainment) on Friday 5 July. The venue is Cúbic in Viladecans and the event is expected to run from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm.

Here’s a preview of the programme for the one-day Professional Event at the 2013 Viladecans Festival Internacional de Teatre i Animació Al Carrer (international festival of street theatre and entertainment) on Friday 5 July. The venue is Cúbic in Viladecans and the event is expected to run from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm.

The day’s activities will begin at 10.30 am with two parallel practical workshops. One of them is aimed at local authority technicians and programmers and will be led by Jordi Bertran with the collaboration of Barcelona Provincial Council Arts Promotion Office (Oficina Difusió Artística, ODA). The workshop theme is safety regulations for performances and activities in public thoroughfares. The other workshop has been organised by the Association of Professional Actors and Directors of Catalonia and is aimed at street arts professionals. This workshop will be led by lawyer Cristina Calvet and the theme is “How do I hire and get hired in the cultural arts sector?".

At 12.30 pm there will be a display by companies featured in this year's Festival Al Carrer prior to a lunch hosted by the organisers at 2.00 pm.

A round table session is scheduled for 4 pm on the existence of a street arts circuit. Taking part in the discussion are Marta Almirall, Head of Festivals and Traditional Culture of the ICUB at Barcelona City Council; Toni Cabré, Head of the Facilities Department and Distribution Networks at the Directorate General for Creativity and Culture Companies at the Government of Catalonia; Jordi Gilabert, member of “Teatro Para Todos Los Públicos” (TTP) professional theatre association; Sonia Martínez, member of the executive committee of the Association of Circus Professionals of Catalonia (APPC), and Mireia Sabaté, Head of Barcelona Provincial Council Arts Promotion Office (ODA). The moderator will be David Ibáñez, Artistic Director of Fira Mediterrània.

The closing session will be led by Carlos Ruiz y Novella, Mayor of Viladecans Town Council; Jordi Sellas y Ferrer, Director General for Creativity and Culture Companies at the Government of Catalonia; Lluís Puig y Gordi, Director General for Popular Culture, Associations and Cultural Action at the Government of Catalonia, and Mireia Hernández y Hernández, Assistant Representative for Culture at Barcelona Provincial Council. Following this, the Festival Al Carrer 2013 will be declared officially open.
