Fira Mediterrània, Tradicionàrius and L’Auditori hold an event focusing on the musical ties between Catalonia and Scotland

Fira Mediterrània of Manresa has been working together with the Tradicionàrius International Folk Festival and L’Auditori in Barcelona to hold a special event dedicated to the musical ties between Catalonia and Scotland. Topping the bill at the event will be legendary Scottish folk group Capercaille.

Fira Mediterrània of Manresa has been working together with the Tradicionàrius International Folk Festival and L’Auditori in Barcelona to hold a special event dedicated to the musical ties between Catalonia and Scotland. Topping the bill at the event will be legendary Scottish folk group Capercaille. Also taking part will be RIU, a group from the Baix Llobregat region who combine a Catalan folk repertoire with Celtic music themes and who won the Sons de la Mediterrània competition in 2011; bagpipers from the City of Barcelona Pipe Band, plus the Castellers de la Vila de Gràcia human towers team. The event, entitled “Escòcia & Catalunya. Camí de la llibertat” (“Scotland and Catalonia. On the path to freedom”), is due to take place on 9 March at 7pm at L’Auditori in Barcelona as part of the 27th Tradicionàrius festival. Other organisations involved are Assemblea Nacional Catalana and Plataforma per la Llengua.
