We attend the First European Gathering of Giants and Festival Figures in Pézenas (Occitania)

The first Ronde Européene de Géants et Totems (European Gathering of Giants and Festival Figures) was held in the Occitan region of Pézanas. The event consisted of meetings to strengthen bonds between Occitan and Catalan groups, and to reflect on the safeguarding, appreciation and dissemination of Intangible Cultural Heritage by organisations involved in festival imagery. With this goal, twenty groups took part in the event from Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Occitania, Provence, Belgium and Hauts-de-France. We attended the event to find out more about the Occitan groups first-hand and to make the most of the fact that, this year, Focus Occitània at Fira Mediterrània will be devoted to traditional culture from Occitania.
