Manresa, 10 November – Film director Isaki Lacuesta is in charge of rounding off the 15th Fira Mediterrània of Manresa tomorrow from 20:00 with a powerful closing show in the city's Plaça Major. An amazing production blending theatre and large format audio-visual projection, a rich mix of references and allusions to various celebrations such as the Dance of Death in Verges and the Misteriosa Llum in Manresa. The original soundtrack for the show is by Bages-born composer Laura Casaponsa.
Beforehand, at 18:00, Teatre Kursaal is hosting a performance by Brams & Banda de l’Escola Municipal de Música de Berga. During the show, Brams will be presenting re-covered versions of some of their most emblematic numbers, but they’ll also be revisiting a series of their own songs, the ones that don’t normally fit into their energetic live performances. They have found the ideal space in Manresa’s quiet Teatre Kursaal and in the heart and soul of a forty-three strong band.
In the performing arts section, Cia. Roberto G. Alonso presents Almazuela (sota els llençols), a show devised for babies between 6 months and 2 years old. With two performers skilfully bending a range of different dance techniques, this company produces a colourful, lively show that’s full of magic and imagination, created with the aim of awakening very young children's interest and motivation. At 11:00, and also for children, this time from aged four upwards, Manresa’s Sala Carlins will be hosting one of the most acclaimed children’s shows in recent years. Càpsules is a production by the Samfaina de Colors theatre group, using a soundtrack of twelve songs played by an array of real and toy instruments to accompany attractive animations by artist Lyona projected onto a giant screen.
From 18:30 onwards, Rodafonio, by Catalan-Colombian group Factoria Circular, will be travelling from Plana de l’Om to the Kursaal. A great wheel measuring 4 metres across travels around urban spaces and is brought to life by three musicians inside its metal belly. Another itinerant show by Balearic association Xeremiers de Sóller is scheduled to make two appearances on the streets between Teatre Kursaal and Plaça Major at 11:00 and 13:00. The ancient xeremies or bagpipes will be accompanied by flabiols and tambourines.
Lastly, tomorrow's Fira programme includes the show Tots aquests dois, conceived by Pep Tosar and based on the life and work of Guillem d’Efak. The venue is Sala Caralins and the performance starts at 18:00. Landscape images and an interview featuring relatives and well-known faces from the world of music will be projected onto transparent fabric hanging in front of a jazz band. Pep Tosar will not only be singing and reciting poetry but also recovering fragments of interviews and anecdotes about the surprising, enthusiastic and multi-faceted figure of Guillem d’Efak.
