UNESCO announces the inclusion of the Pyrenees Falles in its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

The announcement was made following a meeting of the UNESCO Committee in Namibia, where an agreement to include the candidature was made.

UNESCO, through its Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Heritage, has included the Pyrenees summer solstice fire festivals in its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The announcement was made following a meeting of the UNESCO Committee in Namibia, where an agreement to include the candidature was made.
The candidature for the Summer Solstice Fire Festivals in the Pyrenees –falles, haros and bradons– is driven by the Andorran, French and Spanish governments. It comprises 63 towns: 34 French, 17 Catalan, 9 Aragonese and 3 Andorran.
