We visit Quebec (Canada) as part of a Catalan delegation to participate in festivals, this November

Catalan industry professionals will participate in CINARS, a two-yearly performing arts and music festival, and M for Montréal and Mundial Montréal festivals, in Quebec this November. The initiative has been organised by the Departament de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya, through the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (ICEC) and their brand “Catalan Arts!” to promote international reach, and the Institut Ramon Llull. A delegation from Fira Mediterrània will be part of this expedition to Canada.

We will attend a session of speed meetings at Mundial Montréal festival on 14 November and a conference entitled “Catalonia, a Thriving Land for Music”, about the Catalan music scene on 16 November, as part of the festivals’ programmes. The conference aims to publicise Catalonia as a strategic market. It will also offer international delegates information about the Catalan music scene and how to access it. Besides Fira Mediterrània, there will also be delegations at the conference from Mercat Mercat de Música Viva de Vic and Time Out Barcelona.

Now in its 8th year, the Mundial Montréal is a benchmark music event in Canada. Its extensive programme is devoted to world music, and it brings together many music professionals, particularly from Quebec, Canada and the United States.

M pour Montréal is currently in its 13th year, consisting of a professional conference and festival. It has established itself as an international flagship of new music and a focus of cultural life in Montreal.

CINARS is one of the largest international networking hubs for performing arts in the world. From 1984, every two years, it has gathered around 1500 professional delegates in Montreal from more than 40 countries. The programme features some 360 performances, as well as 20 official showcases for music industry professionals.
