The International Festival of Street Theatre in Jelenia Góra, the capital of Lower Silesia in Poland, has invited Fira Mediterrània of Manresa to give a talk on the history of street theatre in Catalonia and in the Spanish state as a whole. The session is planned for Friday 2 August and will deal with the Medieval origins of street theatre up to the present day, describing the history, development and future of open-air performance in a country that has become an example for others to follow, and where this type of theatre has been practised for centuries. The presentation is part of the internationalisation work currently being done by the Manresa fair.
Also on 2 August, the Polish festival has scheduled three Catalan companies, one of which gave one of the most popular performances at last year’s Fira Mediterrània. The great travelling wheel presented by Factoria Circular in their show "Rodafonio" will now be roaming the streets of Jelenia Góra. Another company and producer with a regular slot at the Manresa fair, Tutatis Productora, will be in Poland to perform “Cavalls de Menorca”, a travelling show deeply rooted in Mediterranean folk tradition. The team travelling to Poland also includes Associació Melanio with their show “Kamchatka” and Basque group Ertza “4x4” (winner of the Umore Azoka award for Best Show in the Basque Country in 2013). Fira will be represented by Fundació Fira manager, Jordi Bertran.
