In cooperation with the 15th Fira Mediterrània of Manresa, this musical proposal continues the line of redeveloping the concept of Mediterranean roots.

Casa de la Música de Manresa, in cooperation with Fundació Fira Mediterrània of Manresa, is preparing the third edition of ESTEPA MEDITERÀNIA, in the offset section of Mediterranean roots, which this year is celebrating its fifteenth edition, from 8th to 11th November 2012. The proposal will be based on the programme of artists and various suggestions that can contribute to rethinking, redefining, complementing and even tearing up the concept of Mediterranean Roots within the field of music. The aim is to reinforce and improve the project of Fira Mediterrània of Manresa with proposals that usually do not fit in with the official section, but which can contribute innovative and complementary elements to this artistic market developed until now.

Casa de la Música is now working on the selection of groups which will form part of the offset section of the Fira. The organizers are preparing a new plural edition which combines a wide cross section of proposals which could be successful to audiences, and others with a margin of risk to allow for more complex groups and projects. In order to do the selection, Casa de la Música is researching underground groups, emerging formations and also proposals with a certain status of “consolidated project”. The general coordination, the programming and technical production of the offset section have been taken on by Casa de la Música of Manresa, while the Fundació Fira Mediterrània is contributing financially to the project and its dissemination. Both organizations are also working on internationalization particularly with the aim of generating markets.

On 28th May the selected artists will be informed of the offset programme and on 4th June, it will be announced in the webpages of Casa de la Música and Fira Mediterrània.
