BIME Pro takes place from 26-28 October in Bilbao and it is one of the Spanish music industry’s must-attend events, together with the BIME festival. Representatives of Fira Mediterrània will attend a range of professional activities, based on music (more than 30 showcases are scheduled), new technologies, entrepreneurship and international outreach.

Launch of call for cultural innovation projects until 2 May Fira Mediterrània Business Area launches a new initiative, based on short 15-minute presentations of cultural innovation projects. It will take place on 8 October, featuring a selection of the best project proposals submitted, presented to an audience of industry professionals at Fira.  

From 27 to 30 June, Istanbul hosts its second showcase of contemporary Turkish music, and representatives of Fira Mediterrània will be among the international delegates to attend.

During July, the Fira Mediterrània of Manresa official web site (www.firamediterrania.cat) received 2,453 hits, with a total of 6,437 pages visited. These figures are a slight increase on June, when the web site received 2,074 hits with 5,828 pages visited. Hits have been recorded from a range of places, including France, Italy, Portugal, Germany, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Estonia, Ireland, Belgium, Mexico, Canada, Colombia, Australia, Argentina and Austria.

From 27 to 30 January, Fira Mediterrània of Manresa will be attending the 26th Internationale Kulturbörse Freiburg, Germany’s biggest performing arts fair. Fira Mediterrània’s participation in the German marketplace is part of a partnership agreement between the two events. This year, Kulturbörse has picked 17 Catalan companies to perform on the programme, including 6 who have already featured at Fira Mediterrània: Bufa & Sons, Itinerària, Katakrak, Toc de fusta, Tombs Creatius and Tutatis.

The Spanish Performing Arts Trade Fairs Coordinator (COFAE), of which Fira Mediterrànea of Manresa is member, is launching a new web site, www.cofae.net. The new online platform has been designed by Perfórnika studio and has a brand new modern look, using agile and practical technology, enabling all fifteen trade fairs coordinated by COFAE to update details of their activities and events.

The 2014 Trapezi Reus - Catalonia’s Circus trade fair – kicks off today. Fira Mediterrània Catalonia-Manresa will be there to take part in different activities targeted at industry professionals. The Trapezi line-up this year features 36 companies, with more than 80 shows: 11 international projects, 21 Catalan and 3 from the rest of Spain. The organisers of the event have highlighted two strategic objectives: internationalising circus produced in Catalonia and boosting the trade fair’s professional reach.

For the fourth consecutive year, Fira Mediterrània is to have its own “Off” section, featuring a broad range of daring and innovative musical performances hand-picked from the emerging Mediterranean west coast underground scene.

Due to the saturation of Fira Mediterrània’s server, the period of application for artistic proposals has been extended till March the 7th at 3 p.m.

The IETM International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts holds its plenary meeting from 3 to 6 November in Valencia. Representatives from Fira Mediterrània are attending the event, keen to find out about IETM first hand (no plenary meetings have been held in Spain since 1999) and take advantage of the opportunities offered by IETM to work on international projects.

From today until 1 November, the Italian city of Bari hosts the 4th Medimex - the renowned international music fair based on music innovation, by Puglia Sounds, and the leading music marketplace in Italy. Fira Mediterrània Manresa is at stand number 34 in the exhibition area. Fira will also take part in two other activities: it will lead one of the face-to-face sessions (today from 11 am -1 pm) and it will present ‘The Mediterranean that Resonates’ tomorrow, 31 October at 3 pm.

The 2015 Trapezi, the Circus Fair, is set to take place from 7 to 10 May. The line up this year features new projects that aim to continue boosting Catalan authorship as well as Spanish and international creation to become Catalonia's artistic showcase of circus. Trapezi comprises more than 70 events by 42 companies across 15 different venues for a four-day period. Fira Mediterrània Manresa will be at Trapezi.

Casa de la Música of Manresa and Fira Mediterrània coproduce this line up of concerts, aiming to be a breeding ground for, and gauge of, the underground emerging scene. Artistic proposals can be submitted until Monday 27 April. Full information is available at www.estepamediterrania.cat.
